ABOUT me

Marcus James Woolley

An aspiring explorer, adventurer, teacher and writer.

My name is Marcus and I can gratefully say that I have already experienced a lot in my young life, more than what a lot of people had experienced.

Growing up in Wales was a lot of fun, especially for adventures, Wales has many hidden gems and beauty spots from rugged mountains to wild coast lines, along with so many tales of myths and legends. I have done many small adventures in my country, some have failed but some I have achieved.

Back in 2013 I did my first expedition which was called 'Head to Head' where I journeyed from Mumbles Head in South Wales to Holyhead in North Wales, I did this to get more of an understanding of where I am from and the people closer to me, I learnt a lot about Wales on that expedition and would gladly do it again.

Growing up I had many trips to Morocco where I spent my time with my Moroccan family, as my father ended up remarrying to a Moroccan woman, this gave me a chance at a young age to not only experience a different country away from the tourist sites, but also a chance to experience a new way of family life, culture, traditions and religion, later which caused me to change my path in life.

I spent nearly two years living in Dhaka, Bangladesh where I started working in a five star hotel, I met so many different types of people, from super rich Saudies to Bollywood celebrities, I later changed my job and became an assistant manager for a tour company which allowed me to travel across Bangladesh to the Sundarban Mangrove Forest where I was looking for new ideas for visitors and also keeping an eye open for tigers. Bangladesh also gave me some extreme experiences from hartals to terrorism attacks which were directed at foreigners like myself which later caused me to leave the country.

After returing to the UK unemployed, I went to sit in the job centre office to sign on to get benefits, but I remember that I decided that this wasn't me and I stood up from my chair and walked out of the job centre with my head held high.

I studied a TEFL course in Swansea to become an EFL teacher which opened so many new doors for me, I first got the chance to live in the Pyrenees mountains in Spain teaching English under NATO to the Spanish military, I spent many endless hours walking the rocky trails of the mountains and going to amazing places like Barcelona, Zaragoza and even the small country of Andorra. I also returned to England to teach English in a private boarding school/summer camp and now I am teaching English for a crem school in Changhua, Taiwan.

Doing all this and still finding time to go on explorations, expeditions and adventures.

Life sure is fun!
