About the books.

My first book 'Local People Local Adventures' is a book to encourage people to go on adventures in their local areas, there are so many fascinating places to visit just outside your front door.

My second book which is called 'My First Year As A Travelling English Teacher' tells you the story of why and how I became a travelling English teacher and what I have experienced so far.

So make yourself a cup of tea, put your feet up and enjoy!

My Goal - Local People, Local Adventures!

One of my goals in life is to get as many people as possible to just go out and explore their own area, you would be amazed to find so many unique sites less than an hour away from your front door, the reason why this is so important to me is because I think it is a shame when children don't go out on adventures, I know some people don't have the money or the time but this is the soul reason why this goal is here, to show people you don't need to go to exotic far away lands to have an adventure, local adventures are just as important to take as it not only gives you an understanding for your local area, it also makes you respect the area you are from.

So go ahead, take a walking trail or climb a local hill, if you are in the city there are still ways of having an adventure, for example try to find interesting hisorical sites or go and see what makes your city different from the rest.

The possiblities are endless so please pack up a little bag, open that front door and take your first steps out into your adventure.

The Woolley family link to Dr Livingstone - The Famous Scottish Explorer

David Livingstone (19 March 1813 – 1 May 1873) was a Scottish Congregationalist pioneer medical missionary with the London Missionary Society and an explorer in Africa. His meeting with H. M. Stanley on 10 November 1871 gave rise to the popular quotation "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?"

Dr Livingstone wasn't heard from for months when he was exploring Central Africa so a Gentleman called Henry Morton Stanley setted up a search party which my great great ancestor was apart off, their task was to go to Africa to look for Dr Livingstone.

Stanley as well as my ancestor in a large group travelled to Zanzibar in March 1871 and outfitted an expedition with the best of everything, requiring no fewer than 200 porters. This 700-mile expedition through the tropical forest became a nightmare. His thoroughbred stallion died within a few days after a bite from a tsetse fly, many of his carriers deserted, and the rest were decimated by tropical diseases.

They found Livingstone on 10 November 1871 in Ujiji, near Lake Tanganyika in present-day Tanzania. He may have greeted him with the now-famous line, "Doctor Livingstone, I presume?"
